What is an Air Force Form 177?
A joint use authorization is required if you want to conduct commercial operations at an Air Force airfield. The form specifies that the Air Force may authorize joint use if it is not necessary to perform pilot training, maintain nuclear stocks or operate a high level of security. This authorization must begin within five years of the application date. Military aircraft will be given priority handling, and joint use is not permitted if the military will not receive a large enough share of the proceeds. Lastly, the joint-use sponsor must pay the Air Force for all of the costs associated with implementing the project.
The Air Force is regulating a wide variety of activities that take place at military airfields. For these operations, an application must be submitted to the appropriate command to receive authorization to use the airfield. A permit must be issued a minimum of 30 days prior to a landing to be approved. Aside from obtaining the necessary authorization, an application for an unauthorized landing must also be approved by the governing authority of the installation.

The Department of Defense (DoD) requires certain documents to be completed by a service member, such as an AF Form 177. These documents are required by law to purchase firearms, ammunition, or explosives. Generally, a person with a criminal history must submit a CPO, or criminal background check, to purchase such items.
